This is not a photo I took. My husband has the camera. But I posted it because I want very much a baby hedgehog pet. However, it is illegal in my state. So that is the end of that. But I still very much want a baby hedgehog pet. . .
Look how cute.
I slice off a watermelon round and put the rest into our second fridge in the garage. Coming back in, as the door closes behind me --my husband (who is home! instead of working!) is suddenly standing over my plate with a long bread knife in his hand. He has it stuck in like a tent stake, poised to cut. I chuckle. "Is this alright?" "Yeah."
Last night I read Richard Simmons's Daily Letter talking about not eating late-night snacks. I really like his daily letter though I'm not sure why and it's embarrassing. Anyway, although I agree with him on the late-night snacks being a bad idea, it reminded me that I was hungry --and that I had bought a hollandaise sauce mix that day. . . Thus --my first attempt at Eggs Benedict. . .
It turned out to be good I was up --because my husband wanted to wake me up to show me the eclipse. It was really nice to be there with him. The air was just perfectly warm. I don't think it became a true total eclipse. That little dot barely visible is the last sliver of moon.
Tonight I made curried lentils and basmati rice. And for dessert --the chocolate pizza my husband brought home to me last night. . .

Down the street from my husband's work is the Tiffany's megastore. I've never been brave enough to venture in. I need a picture for today so I dare myself. The lady at the counter I talk to is genuinely very nice.
Our road got re-paved this week! It's beautiful. For three days we had to park a block away and walk! I found this to be really fun and adventuresome. I'm not sure why. I'm probably the only one. That's okay. They never did that kindof stuff in the Midwest where I grew up --it snowed too much for it to do any good. The roads would just crack up in the cold.
P.S. After I took the first picture, a family of deer walked down the street at me, then around the corner and up the hill!
But he surprised me today with a burned audiobook of a survey of philosophy through the ages. I love that his note is on a prescription sheet. . .
Finishing up my Zen project. . . Gotta love any book with pictures. . . Here are some poems I like from it (still can't believe I like Asian arts now):
Breaking the silence
Of an ancient pond,
A frog jumped into water --
Resonance
and
I picked my way
Through a mountain road,
And I was greeted
By a smiling violet.
