I love the red of this table.

I'm relieved to see my exactly-perfect-warmth-for-when-I'm chilly-and-would-have-a-very-hard-time-replacing-sweater did not fall out of my bag somewhere during the course of the night but is indeed still on the floor in my room. :)

I got to see some of my very favorite people tonight.

My Tibetan Buddhist friend Serena brought me to her Lama's house years ago for a meditation once. From it I wanted a Green Tara poster for my house.

Finishing up my Buddhism/Hinduism assignment tonight. . .

Today was Tim's last day at work :(..... -- tears.

I love fires. I'm weird that way. This one's just out in a field. I felt a little bummed when a helicopter came to put it out.

I couldn't get the tiny ripple of bright orange on camera. . .

Happy Birthday Josh! Camera battery died. We're going retro.

Josh sneaks up on our friend Bill --last Summer in my husband's ancient Easter Bunny costume (a cleaning out clutter day.). . .

Dvd sale with my husband today. He's ten years older. He brings me more deeply into music worlds. . .

He bought and played for me --the late John Bohnam of Led Zepplin's Moby Dick drum solo.

Amazing. Friggin' guy goes through every possibilty on drums and has incredibly perfect timing.

Here it is on utube in parts:
(A piece is missing where he uses only his hands that is unbelieveable.)

Stopped in to where I used to work to get a book for school today . Found out Tim's quitting :(

This is me --much of the time Cute though, eh? The picture is actualy from last year.

One night last year at work having not heard back from a certain Brooklyn funnyman in longer than usual, this book fell off the shelf at me and landed on the floor. Still not sure what it meant. . .

They threw a surprise party when I quit.

Collaberated with my husband, even.

They got me good.
I'm on the far right.

I think if you double click on this you can see it up close.
the black line above the money says, "One interesting thing leads to another."

Started work for my Hinduism assignment tonight. But I don't have any Hindu god statues to photograph. . .

So here's a collage I did as a New Year's Day tradition with some girls two years ago (our "wishes for the year"). I didn't like the way it turned out at the time --too boring or simple. So I made another one. Then the year went all crazy haywire and now it's a perfect picture of the essence of what I'm trying to get back to. . .

I like doing collages. I really need to make a date with myself and do another one sometime soon in between school projects and whatnot.

Finished my Sula paper!!!!

You're right, Jen. Listening really is the way to go with Morrison --btw, I've said it before but you constantly enrich the quality of my life. . .

I watched this on breaks. I love the change in people at the end of the shows.

I think I have dyslexia a little bit. So my new trick is I'm listening to this and following along (for school. two chapters left. I'm in love with the texture and colors of this book.).

(taken by my husband)
CONGRATS TONY!!!!!! He's won ribbons but this is the first time he's won trophies. I think he's the first American to win. Not only is he maker of the "Best Pizza in the World"(was a contest in Italy. this past week. for taste.), he is also an incredibly generous friend.

watched this yesterday and today. 49 Up.

It's a documentary about English kids filmed at seven and again every seven years. They're 49 now.

The first time I saw it:
living in the house/dorm I loved in college in Hawaii, having a really difficult time trying to decide if I should marry my artiste! boyfriend or not.

second time:
married to someone else, newly moved to California, newly in my first "real" job.

This time:
in grad school, "on call" at the job, still married :)

It's been a year since my favorite person Nick died. Day after Father's Day, actually (always a gentleman.). He's one powerful (and busy) guardian angel. My husband says that all the people he loved took his energy into the seven corners of the earth.

He once saw posted on a church sign:
Morning Service: Jesus Walks on Water
Evening Service: Looking for Jesus

this was on oddtodd.com the next day, coincidentally. (thanks for that again btw)

a wall hanging my husband found on a job site. Lena my Chinese work friend said it means "prosperity in career."

Finished my paper!!!! Because of it I now absolutely love Chinese poetry and music and paintings. I love Taosim too. This was definitely not the case two weeks ago.

Again and again tears are sprinked on a jade plate.

And

The incense burnt to ashes
The candle dissolved in tears.

(finished the poetry book)

I took a walk behind our house tonight.

I was listening to a taped talk by the fabulous and spiritual Nick, our amazing friend, from when he was alive. . . breathing and trying to just "be" and contemplating how to write for school about Chinese arts and theTao. . .

P.S. (update from the pizza pic earlier this week) Our friend Tony took first place in the pizza competition!!!!!!!!

Ten! more pages to go in the poetry book. grrr. I have trouble with poetry. But Chinese poetry is very clever and I like it.

Written Chinese has changed very little and people can read ancient texts with very little difficulty.

The dew drops on the drooping willows: pearls strung with green silk threads;
The stars reflected in the pond: scattered crystal balls on a jade plate;

P.S. current obsession: Kathy Griffin's My Life on the D-List.

It was HOT today.

Called the phone company to block the guy's number I mentioned in yesterday's post. Hopefully that will take care of it. Not a chance.

Picked up something on stalking at the library today that's very comforting. Finishing the poetry book (for school). . .

I kinda like the picture sideways like this.
The painting is a Bill Fien original. . . And finished this book for school today (finally!!!) --very interesting and fun read though it really doesn't look like it. I think Bill would like it --into Eastern philosophy like he is. . .

Also hope it doesn't make people uncomfortable for me to post this here but I kinda wanna keep a record --and I also think these kinds of stories really need to be told. . . An ex-friend who's been stalking me a little for the past year (though he probably wouldn't call it that) fanagled my phone number from someone today. Gonna see if I can get his calls blocked tomorrow. Don't know if he'll call. But the wondering really sucks.

There's a bird outside chirping full songs like it's daytime. ?

I'm starting a once-a-month gig of volunteering at the local prison. I went once to check it out already but today is the first day I'm "official!" I've wanted to do this for 5+ years but had to work through feelings and fears about it first. . .

Here are some things I wouldn't be able to have in prison.

I can't really put into words what the women there have already done for me in my life.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
I got the date wrong. Next week I go to the prison.
Here's a picture I took last week to make up for it.

Our friend Tony was trying out recipes for a pizza contest in Italy!

He gets special pizza flour flown in, and uses tomatoes grown in only one place in the world. The rosemary one (rectangle) was my favorite.

True royal treatment, Baby. I felt really honored to get to do this.

My husband is away on a vacation.

For the first time ever I am in the house alone with noone else --no nurses, no other family. I'm excited! I have a lot of work to do (so not a lot of time to savor it).

But I took some girly time today and watched the end part of Stepmom. . .

It's quiet.
:)

easy smoothie: in blender --frozen berries, vanilla yogurt, rice milk/juice, splenda.

I saw my neighbor putting out his garbage tonight. So I got reminded and put mine out (Except it isn't garbage night.).

I'm hyper-vigilant about putting out the trash cans. Because my husband's dad use to do it. Before he got too sick. Now he isn't here to do it or to remember to do it or to remind one of us (my husband) to do it --because he died a few months ago. He and I had a strange relationship that felt complicated. We got in each other's way mostly, I think. The trash was his thing. I still park on the street instead of the driveway out of habit after he scratched my car once rolling the cans out to the curb. Now sometimes we forget to bring them back in --and the neighbors will do it.

I cried three times tonight thinking about all of this.

If you look to the left on the street there is a bagged ad for a local landscaping company with some little rocks in it. We get one every few weeks. I always take the rocks out (I can't throw away rocks for some reason) and I toss them into our front yard (um. ruh roh.). . .

Yay! I've been meaning to start a daily photo blog for a long time.
I'm totally copying my online friend Amber's idea --and she finished her "Year in Pictures" blog in May so --perfect timing.
Thanks for the idea Amber!
(And technically I consider it to still be Saturday, because I haven't gone to bed yet. . . )

I couldn't decide what to take a picture of so I combined. . .

A. At my nagging, my husband finally hired someone to trim our yard and the guy hit a rock that flew through a front window. . . I felt bad for nagging and promptly made myself scarce. . .
Such pretty and sparkly glass though, don't you think?

and

B. I finished this lovely book just now for school (finally).
The last line is, "Put the book away and dance for a while."
