P.S. for Saturday

On Thanksgiving, a large flock of seagulls was swarming a spilled bucket of popcorn in a movie theater parking lot. The sky was just swirling with gulls. I passed my husband the camera and asked if he'd take some pictures. . .

My husband from across the room saw this on the wall and asked if it was a spider.
A few years ago I re-developed a fear of spiders that I hadn't had since childhood.
But I wasn't afraid. It wasn't a spider (weird that I'm only scared of spiders).
But I didn't know what it was. . . and found this funny. . . and decided it needed to be my picture of the day. . . Now I'm not so sure. But --it'll do.

Our one-year-old fridge is making big rig truck noises. . .

There are still a lot of things still posted up from last year from before my husband's dad died (we all lived together --and shared the fridge --see his dad's beloved leftover Tupperware containers up top.).

The bottom right is from his dad's 60th high school reunion of 1938. He had defied his father and gone to school during the day and picked crops at night --and was the first of his family to graduate from high school. My husband went with him to the reunion. . .

Tonight I finished a show on the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens.

I'll do two pictures today to make up for no pictures yesterday.

Here's #2.
The outdoor market I love succeeded in litigation brought against them and is staying open!!!!!!
I couldn't even imagine the other. . . (forgot about getting squash and other stuff want to make. . . next week?)

I'm not a big fan of Christmas. . . to say the least. . . but I'm trying really hard not to hate it. . . And I do like sparkly things. . . It kinda cracks me up that the pink tree I kinda like, actually --embarrassing slightly, but I do. . . I know without asking that my husband won't go for it. That's okay. I like the lavender/baby blue/silver jingle bell wreath, too. . .

Tuesday November 6, 2007

(no picture for today. )

Tonight my husband told me a story of when he was a little kid --7-years-old.

His little friend had gotten in trouble and wanted to run away. He talks my husband into coming too. My husband packs a little suitcase (I don't exactly know why but --that's so him.). They start walking. They decide to walk to this one town (It's a good ways away.).

Halfway there, they see a guy cutting a dead oak into slices for tabletops (very popular in the 70s). They cross the freeway (only two lanes then), and ask him for water. He gives them some but says the container had gas in it earlier so they should only swish it around to wet their mouths. He probably spies the suitcase (by this time it's getting dark), and asks where the two of 'em are headed. The friend pipes up, "My grandma's." The guy offers them a ride.

They get to the town. The friend picks out a house at random. They get out of the car, go up to the house and knock. The guy waits in his car and watches. A little old lady answers the door. They say, "Grandma!" She says, "Do I know you?" So close. They each call their parents. The guy drives them home. The friend gets in a whole heap of trouble this time. My husband's dad had been scared out of his mind. . . Crazy.
